Suffix in a name adds additional information about a person.
In British English, the suffix is used to show the generational designation such as “Jr.” and “Sr.” For instance, John R. Smith Jr.
Furthermore, those who want to show the number of generation uses suffixes like “I”,” II”, “III”, and so on, that indicates the first generation, the second generation and the third generation respectively.
Magento 2, a feature-rich platform that it is, allows merchants to enable the suffix field in the registration form from the admin panel! Similarly, there’s an option to enable prefix in Magento 2 backend.
In this post, the stepwise method to show suffix field in Magento 2 store is shown.
Steps to Show Suffix Field in Magento 2:
- Login to Magento 2 admin panel
- Navigate to Stores > Settings > Customers
- Under Customer, select Customer Configuration
- Expand Name and Address Options
- Set Required in the field “Show Suffix”
- Add the Suffix Dropdown Options separated by a semicolon.
- Save the configuration
That’s it.
Now, the suffix field is displayed while adding new address in the “My Account” section.
